Our enfleurage absolute is the concentrated perfume of thousands of flowers captured in cold fat, beeswax and organic alcohol. Unlike its harsher cousin the “essential oil,” this precious extract is created without the use of heat which destroys delicate florals. It can be worn straight as a delicate perfume.
Beginning in May, we harvest Russian Olive each day, laying the blooms on enfleurage chassis for 8 hours. After 30 charges of flowers, we scrape the floral pommade into glass jars and cover with organic sugar cane alcohol. Shaking everyday for over a year, the flower’s fragrance jumps from the fat and wax into the alcohol. Finally we pour the fragrant extrait off the pommade into evaporation trays to remove the alcohol.
At the end of this process we are left with a tiny amount of enfleurage absolute, the pure smell of Russian Olive flowers that cannot be captured in any other way.
We are one of a very few perfumeries that use this time consuming method and the only one to offer Russian Olive.

Note: the nature of an enfleurage absolute is its delicate fragrance. A small percentage of the population is anosmic to enfleurage, meaning they cannot smell it. If you are accustomed to the strength of synthetic scents (in laundry soap, shampoo, perfume, etc) please note that you may be less able to experience this enfleurage.
